The Great Mumbai Monsoon!!

It's been a while since i started jogging in the morning around 5:30 am and i'm in love with it when its raining also. Running in rain is too much fun, don't know about you people but i enjoy it a lot. It makes the mood and morning jogs are good for health also as it keeps you fit and fixed for the whole day.

It's now the 3rd week since the monsoon arrived in Mumbai and it's been raining quite well, hope the city doesn't get flooded this time as it usually does. I still remember what happened on 26th of July, 2005.

I was in college when the rain started pouring heavily around 4 pm, i didn't realize the danger that time so i kept playing table-tennis in the college with my friends. You won't believe but within 2 hours the the great Mumbai city got flooded, the main reason was high tide so the rain water couldn't get any escape route and it got flooded. Now back to my story, i left college at 6 pm and obviously couldn't find any means of travel so i started walking. All the cellphone networks also jammed making the condition much more worse for me.
I used to live far away from my college that time. Somehow i got onto a bus, felt some relief but then again the bus got stuck in heavy traffic, i waited till 9 pm and then everyone deserted the bus and we started to walk to our destinations.

I wasn't the only one, i had a huge company of people walking with me. On the way, i can see people taking shelter here and there, trying to climb the trees to have a good view of what's ahead. We reached a traffic signal crossing and it was impossible to cross it because of the huge flow of water, some people dared but then they soon realized that you can't beat mother nature. It was 2 am now and we took shelter in the back of a truck which was abandoned and it was carrying some construction material. It was much better in there then outside. Somehow i slept in the truck and when i woke up it was 6 am and the water on the signal had cleared, easy to cross now but finding a way to get home was still a problem.

After 2-3 hours finally a bus showed up and i hopped-in,  i was feeling good actually. After that i managed my way somehow and finally reached home around 12 pm. I relaxed, had shower and ate breakfast. "What an Adventurous Night", i was thinking. Here are some of the memories of that day picturised...

Very sadly, but some people couldn't make there way back home, so i pray to god that there soul may rest in peace!!
